HW E-mail Sender WordPress plugin

HW Override Default Sender

By default, WordPress will use the wordpress@yourdomain.com e-mail address and “WordPress” as e-mail sender information for e-mails such as “user created”, “password reminders” and more. This is fairly anonymous and is probably not the sender for your e-mails that you want. It might even be the cause for e-mails “getting lost” or ending up in the spam folder.

Use your sender information

The HW Override Default Sender plugin allows you to change the default WordPress e-mail sender information (including Reply-Path). It works for standard WordPress installations as well as multi-site installations. After installing and activating this plugin it will use the information you already provided in your WordPress settings unless something else has been specified (see FAQ below).

For standard WordPress installations:

  • Sender name: Site Admin > Settings > General > Site Title
  • Sender e-mail: Site Admin > Settings > General > E-mail Address

For multi-site WordPress installations:

  • Sender name: Network Admin > Settings > Network Name
  • Sender e-mail: Network Admin > Settings > Network Admin Email

Download

You can get the latest version of this plugin directly from the official WordPress plugin directory or install it directly from the WordPress admin.

Support

Free support is available at the official WordPress Plugin support forum. I try to answer questions there when I get the time for it. If you need premium support you can contact me.

FAQ

Will it override all e-mails?

No. It will only intervene if it detects that the e-mail about to be sent has the WordPress default sender information. It means that existing plugins, filters or in other way specified e-mail sender information will be untouched and still work as expected.

What about Reply-Path?

It will always override the Reply-Path header if not prohibited by your server configuration. It will do so by setting the Reply-Path e-mail address to the same address as the From value.
